Long Bay Beach Resort & Villas epitomizes the tropical informality and natural beauty of the British Virgin Islands. Hidden away on a 52-acre estate in Tortola, this 157-room resort rises up the hillside from the island’s finest beach, a mile of talcum-powder sand caressed by the gentle surf of the Caribbean Sea.

Reflections of the island’s colonial history are evident throughout; the rambling main building suggestive of a plantation house, the beach restaurant set in an 18th-century sugar mill and many of the private villas evoking traditional island homes.

Yet leisure facilities fulfill all the requirements of a contemporary tropical resort and include a swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness room and scuba-diving facilities, as well as a Wellness Spa & Salon. Equally varied are the dining opportunities, the venues ranging from hillside, poolside or beachfront and the cuisine varying from informal grills and fresh seafood to Continental specialties and traditional Italian favorites.

A wide variety of accommodation styles also await here, all guest rooms boasting memorable views of the Caribbean Sea. Stay right down on the beach in a spacious room or quaint cabana. Or choose one of the hillside rooms or villas, all of which boast their own private balconies and some of which feature private Jacuzzis, full kitchen facilities and alfresco dining terraces. There are even a handful of private Estate Homes complete with private swimming pools and up to four bedrooms.

You don’t have to go far to experience some of the finest cuisine Tortola has to offer! Long Bay’s on-site restaurants include the beachfront ‘1748’, the romantic ‘Pasta House’, and the elegant Palm Terrace, renowned for the quality of its Continental cuisine. Casual snacks are also served all day by the pool and a host of island restaurants are pandering to more independent guests.

Delightfully informal, ‘1748’ is a popular beachfront deck restaurant. Part of an 18th-century sugar mill, it offers buffet breakfasts, as well as extensive lunch and dinner menus featuring anything from grills and fresh seafood to tasty local dishes. Special weekly events include a ‘Barbecue Cook-out’ and a ‘Taste of Tortola’ buffet, both evenings featuring live entertainment.

The Pasta House

Located on the upper terrace of the 18th-century sugar mill, the Pasta House is an intimate dining venue open for dinner twice a week. It serves traditional Italian cuisine complemented by fine wines and ocean views. Reservations necessary.

The Palm Terrace

For elegant, leisurely candlelight dinning situated in the midst of a Palm Garden, this restaurant is widely regarded as one of the finest in Tortola and known for their fresh-from-the-reef seafood. Offering tempting selection of wonderfully prepared appetizers, entrees desserts and fine wines and liqueurs to compliment your repast. Dinner is served from 6:30pm to 10:00pm.

The 1748 Beach Bar

This is where to get an ‘Island Fizz’ with breakfast, a ‘Long Bay Cooler’ with lunch or a ‘Papaya Daiquiri’ with dinner! Happy Hour is held every evening from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. On Fridays live music and special snacks are offered. (The Beach Bar is openfrom 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. if 1748 or Pasta House restaurants remain open for dinner service. If Palm Terrace is only open for dinner than the Beach Bar closes at 4 p.m.)

Pelican Swim-up Pool Bar

This popular swim-up pool bar serves tropical drinks and tasty snacks (burgers, sandwiches and salads). Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for drinks and serves food from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Palm Terrace Bar

A social or romantic setting, this is the perfect spot for enjoying cocktails in the lounge or outside on the terrace. Open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Open when Palm Terrace Restaurant and 1748 are open - closed Sunday)

The Elegant Pelican

Located next to reception, the Elegant Pelican is a unique island shopping experience. Enter a typical Caribbean home through its courtyard and delve into the hidden treasures of luxury resort-wear, swimwear, bags, gifts and unique local arts and crafts. The shop also stocks basic vacation necessities, as well as reading material and video rentals.

The Sporting Pelican

The Sporting Pelican offers a wide range of trendy t-shirts, casual wear, hats, sandals, sun tan products and beach toys. Boogie boards, snorkeling equipment and other water sport gear are available for rental.

The Pelicatessen

The Pelicatessen is your one-stop resort convenience store. Stock up on everything from snacks, juices, wines, rums, beer, medicines, toiletries and much more! Daily delivery direct to your villa is also available.

Tennis at Long Bay

Long Bay offers two lighted artificial grass courts. There is a nominal charge for court time.

Water sports

Long Bay’s mile-long beach is white, powdery, and the perfect spot for water sports. In the summer, the beach provides excellent snorkeling; in the winter, bodysurfing is a popular activity. Snorkeling equipment and boogie boards are available for rental at our Dive-Tortola shop. The resort also features a fresh water pool with lovely ocean views.

Long Bay Wellness Spa and Salon (extra cost)

The Spa and Fitness Center at Long Bay offers a tempting variety of treatments designed to rejuvenate the mind and body.  All treatments can be booked locally.

Hillside Oceanview room

Set on hillside approximately 100 yards from the beach.  These cozy guestrooms are tastefully decorated with designer tropical furnishings and have balconies or decks with oceanviews.  Rooms have either one king or two twin beds and accommodate two guests.  

Hillside Oceanview Deluxe

Spacious rooms with breathtaking oceanviews from your private balcony or large covered deck, located on the hillside approximately 75 yards from the beach. A choice of king-size or twin beds, these tastefully furnished rooms offer refined luxuries such as marble vanities. Connecting rooms are available for families. Maximum occupancy 2 adults OR 2 adults and 1 child (with a rollaway for the child).
